During the last decade, the grid computing and the high performance computing have become invaluable tools for the support of the international scientific collaborations.
At present, particle physics is still the main beneficiary of the grid technology, but new research communities are increasingly interested in its potential.
Also, the organization of high performance computing networks for science and education is one of the priority areas in the European e-infrastructure strategy.
The RO-LCG 2010 Conference is dedicated to the regional and international collaborations in grid computing and HPC, aiming at strengthening the links between the scientific communities working in these areas.
The event is open to the participation of representatives of regional grid infrastructures, WLCG members and high-energy physicists, computer scientists, site administrators, grid and HPC users.
The topics of the conference include:
- Grid activities developed in the RO-LCG federation
- National and regional grid and HPC projects for science and education
- International collaborations based on grid and HPC technologies
The workshop is organized by 'Horia Hulubei' National Institute for R&D in Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH), and supported by the National Agency for Scientific Research through the R&D project CONDEGRID - "National contribution to the development of the LCG computing grid for elementary particle physics".
